This rapid test kit utilizes an anterior nasal swab sample to test for Influenza A and B, as well as COVID-19. The rapid results will provide a visual differentiation between the three viruses with a single swab. Symptoms of these three viral infections can be very similar, so a single swab allows providers to efficiently test symptomatic patients in a single visit.

Importance of Screening for COVID and Influenza

Both COVID and Influenza are highly seasonal when it comes to large portions of the population becoming infected. Influenza typically has higher rates of infection during the same times of the year (during the fall and winter months) with the highest rates of infection between December and February. COVID infections can be a bit more unpredictable and do not necessarily follow the same pattern of higher infection rates in the winter months as influenza does. COVID is more influenced by population behavior and different COVID strains and variants.

Both infections are highly transmissible and contagious. Annual vaccines are always recommended by health providers, but regular testing is always another measure to take when combating widespread infections.
